- after finishing the Premaster with Peter Caelen´s solo - piano-programm for the dutch company Zuiderlicht,
we dived into editing a live recording of the Lombardi Trio (flute, cello, piano) with a world premiere of a marvellous trio by Lombardi, a suite by Rameau and a phantatic performance of George Crumbs
composed in 1971
“Vox Balaenae (Voice of the Whale)”
for
three masked players: electric flute, electric cello, and amplified piano,
which they really performedwith masks, while the hall was
completely dark in the beginning of that piece.
This concert took place in the small hall of “Die Glocke” in Bremen,
which meant we had to remove quite some tram-noise in the Mastering-session:)
On saturday (August 22nd) our Tonmeister Alexander worked with a sound-engineer from RadioBremen to broadcast and record 2 concerts at the same time. This was the opening night of the prestigious “Musikfest Bremen” which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
The RadioBremen team managed the challenge to record and broadcast concerts from 7 Stages simultaniously, which means the Live-program would switch from one concert to another in between mouvements. All ensembles played 3 times 50 minutes, so the audience moved as well from one hall to the other during that night.
Our Tonmeister was recording and broadcsting one stage with a Performance of medieval choir music being sung a capella by the Austrian Ensemble Cinquecento in the Cathedral “Unsere lieben Frauen” in the historic city-center of Bremen. Here he used 3 Neumann TLM 50 as a Main System, plus 2 KM83 as “Hall system” to capture indirect sound. On their program was polyphonic renaissance-music from England and Flandres with pieces by William Byrd, Thomas Tallis, Nicolas Gombert, Philippe de Monte and others. It was called “Beauty & Dissonance”.
The second one was played by the ensemble baroque de limoges in the historic town hall of Bremen. They played Chamber music by Haydn Pleyel and Albrechtsberger as well as concerti for 2 “Lire organizatte” by Haydn and (apocryphal) Mozart.
The final project of the choirs from the University of Arts Bremen were 2 concerts with
“Chichester psalms” by L.Bernstein, a-capella music by Bengt Hambraeus, Gunnar Eriksson, Karin Rehnquist, Pekka Kostiainen, Max Reger, Arnold Schönberg, and the “Magnificat” by John Rutter.
we loved the music, it was performed on a very high level, esepecially the chamber choir and the soloists were outstanding.
